An In-Depth Look at the Most Popular Procedures

In the last few years, the number of plastic cosmetic procedures has risen by over fifty percent. Many people undergo plastic surgery operations, not just the rich and famous. Since 2007, the three most common procedures have been breast augmentation, liposuction and the ever popular tummy tuck.

Breast augmentation
is the process of making an incision in the breast area, and placing an implant usually made of silicon or saline into the cavity. This procedure usually takes about one to three hours and you will most likely be able to return home a few hours after the surgery (although it is recommended that you do not drive yourself home). This type of surgery will make you feel a little sore and stiff, but this pain should last no longer than 48 hours.

One of the most common liposuction procedures is abdomen liposuction. This is the permanent removal of fatty deposits around the abdomen area and is often used for people who wish to have a flatter stomach than which they can obtain through diet and exercise. This plastic cosmetic surgery procedure involves a small incision in the naval area, and the insertion of a small tube called a cannula which breaks up the fatty deposits and the unwanted fat is removed via a powerful vacuum. This type of procedure takes 1-2 hours per area that is treated, and the healing process will take a few weeks, to get rid of the bruising and swelling.

The tummy tuck procedure works on the same problem areas that liposuction does, which tends to be a problem area for a lot of people. This plastic cosmetic surgery procedure differs in that it also tightens abdominal muscles and skin as well as removing excess fatty deposits. The tummy tuck is a slightly longer procedure than the other two mentioned, taking between 2-5 hours. The recovery period is also slightly longer, ranging from 2-5 weeks that you will need to take off work.
